Day Six in New York was lovely. We had planned a tour of Greenwich village but decided at the last minute to do the bus tour. We went for breakfast at Applebees on the morning. Just a standard American breakfast but was filling and set us up for the day. Applebees is a nationwide chain, so you don’t quite get the standard you would in other places.
We then made our way to the bus tour pickup points in Times Square where there are a lot of sales people waiting to take your money for the tickets. We went to the Big Bus Tour as there was a 2 hour downton tour and a 2 hour uptown and harlem tour and we had plenty of time to do both. We saw a lot of things that we didn’t see beforehand. You also just cannot beat the local knowledge from the tourguides. In particular, the uptown and Harlem tour was the best as we never would have thought to go to Harlem. I think it definitely gets a bad press but I think it will be on the list for the next time we go. There is just so much to see and do in New York and I think the bus tour really showed us that. I don’t even know if we would see everything we wanted to see after several trips to The Big Apple.
It was quite sad to say goodbye but by this time we were completely exhausted and just couldn’t wait to get home. Our flight with BA was smooth and we even managed to have our bags for when we got home!
I did plenty of shopping so I will share a post soon about my haul!
See you soon,
